Inspired by her own female English Language Arts teachers, Rochelle always knew she wanted to be an ELA educator. Her journey took her to the University of Delaware, where she earned a B.A. in English Education. During her training and classroom observations, Rochelle noticed that female students often lacked the same confidence as their male peers. This insight became a central focus of her academic and teaching work.

She earned her B.A. in English from Central Connecticut State University, where her research and thesis focused on Gender Studies in Literature. With this background, Rochelle pioneered the college-level course “Women’s Literature” at her West Hartford high school. This class combines her passion for gender equality with the study of women’s literary contributions throughout history.

Rochelle also teaches AP Language and Composition, emphasizing SAT skills. While teaching this class, she noticed that female students often hesitated about their grades and abilities on exams. This motivated her to tutor young women, helping them improve their learning and test-taking skills. Rochelle dedicates her efforts to ensuring all young women have equal educational opportunities. Her main goal is to foster confidence that drives resilience, success, and a love of learning in her students.

Let’s talk about her goals.
